Now that winter is approaching and grad school is over, I've been finding more time to relax, read, figure out my life (and avoid Facebook. I'll keep this brief, but whatever happened to good old-fashioned creeping? Whatever happened to an innocent peep into someone's public private life, checking out their pictures and social status and whatnot? Nope, not anymore. Just constant opinion peddling and outrage. I just want to look at your dog pictures. I still try to sift through the madness, though, so please, people, more dog pictures.)

Anyhooters, for the commuters and book lovers and Netflix people who whittle away their time in other outlets, too:

TV
Without a DVR I'm missing out on my regular shows—with the exception of The Walking Dead—but on Netflix I'm rewatching my beloved Lost (just as good the second time around) and finally getting around to Twin Peaks, which is excellent so far. [Update, season 2 is just too bizarre, I can't finish it. But Season 1 was good.] Next up is Aziz Ansari's new series.

Books
I'm reading Mermaids in Paradise by Lydia Millet, an author I've never read before. I'm in love with her writing. I despised Luckiest Girl so much that I didn't finish, and what I did read I hate-skimmed. What a loathsome main character.

Podcasts
I've been lacking on my podcast game, but I did catch a Fresh Air with Sarah Silverman where she discusses her new movie about depression and her late mother and being depressed in real life. Not the brightest of topics, but she's so articulate and sweet and honest that I enjoyed every second.

E-Newsletters
Still digging the Skimm, and I signed up for Lenny Letter after reading (warning: graphic) this.

And then there's Lily bear, who just straight chills.

    Author

A writer (and teacher), I mostly come here to write about the aftermath of having cancer. And knock on wood about that "aftermath" part. That whole mess started at this post: Sweater Puppies.
