Cape Cod in the Fall...?

Picture
I should be showing pictures of turning leaves, but it was freakishly warm this weekend! Look at Lily with her wet beautiful head. Look at her!

Freaking out about a 7-miler I signed up for in Harwich on Saturday. (Mike signed us up for the sole purpose of him not wanting to be shown up by his 63-year-old dad, who is in better shape than us.)

I've been running no longer than three mile distances over the summer, mostly because to get in shape for the wedding I found that lifting, ketelbells, and calisthenics bore more noticeable results than cardio, which just makes me hangry.

Sidenote: On Instagram, to make you feel either really bad about yourself or super inspired - depending on your mood - follow @gym_videos and SugarySixPack.

Sidenote 2: At the Big E this weekend I ate a bloomin' onion, bacon mac n' cheese, and a lobster roll - all in rapid succession. Woof.

Wish me luck on Saturday!

Back to Life, Back to Reality

RECAP: Last I wrote, I was freaking out about the wedding. (Reading it makes me cringe. I forgot how whiny and complainy I was.)

Planning can utterly consume you for an entire year (more or less). Kind of pathetic, but necessary, especially if you're like me and planned it almost entirely on your own. 100% worth it.

Pictures, by the way, are here. It was one of the best days of my life. I used to want to puke when I heard girls say that, but it WAS.

REAL LIFE: Somehow in between I managed to settle into my job (which I actually like for once) and took an elective writing class where a bunch of highfalutin MFA kids ripped apart my first piece of writing and made me cry (I'm such a baby). In my defense it was the first piece of fiction I ever wrote to see the light of day so SUCK IT, KID WITH PINKY RINGS AND OVERUSE OF THE WORD "TROPE."

But, my second story was way better and my professor gave me very genuine words of encouragement. I've been writing something over this past year that's just grown and grown (I'm making it into an ebook for a class, for practice) so I may post some pieces of it here for feedback in case it's any good. Be gentle.

^^^^Gratuitous wedding slideshow I made with an app on my phone (!)

A writer (and teacher), I mostly come here to write about the aftermath of having cancer. And knock on wood about that "aftermath" part. That whole mess started at this post: Sweater Puppies.
